Local legend also connects The Horse with Edgar Allan Poe, claiming it was one of his final stops before his mysterious death—an intriguing story that has become part of the tavern’s identity, although the precise details remain the subject of historical debate.

I completed the original painting in 2024, inspired by my own memories of enjoying a few beers at this rustic Baltimore landmark in the neighborhood where my son now lives. The artwork captures the historic brick façade, hanging saloon sign, sidewalk music board, and lively atmosphere of one of Fell’s Point’s most recognizable establishments.
